Sports facilities
Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre (MOSiR)
The Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Giżycko (MOSiR) is the main body managing the town’s sports and recreation infrastructure. The facility at Moniuszki 5 is part of an extensive network of municipal venues — it oversees the stadium, multi-purpose pitches, tennis courts and “Orlik” facilities, as well as a network of swimming pools, an ice rink, sports halls and the Ekomarina harbour. The Moniuszki complex includes football, basketball and volleyball courts, tennis courts and a roller-skating track. The grounds around the MOSiR headquarters form the centre of sporting activity in Giżycko, with easy access for residents and visitors alike.
Central Sports Centre – COS OPO Giżycko
The Central Sports Centre – COS OPO Giżycko is a modern sports and recreation complex on Lake Kisajno. Its 26-hectare grounds include a sports hall, pitches, courts, a gym, a fitness room and a climbing wall, as well as a marina, a beach and a bathing area. The site also has a full-size football pitch with an artificial surface that meets the standards for national and international competition. The turf is regularly maintained and irrigated, which guarantees a high quality of play throughout the season. The pitch has its own sanitary facilities and changing rooms for teams. It is used for senior and youth team training as well as for friendly matches, tournaments and sports camps. The centre offers accommodation, a restaurant, a wellness centre and conference rooms, serving both athletes preparing for competition and tourists looking for an active break.
Tourist information
Boyen Fortress
A 19th-century star-shaped fortification right next to the town centre. A great spot for a group walk or an outdoor game. Children can see the historic bastions, gates and impressive defensive ramparts.
Municipal Beach and Pier on Lake Niegocin
The heart of recreation in Giżycko. Besides the sandy beach and supervised bathing area, the season brings an inflatable obstacle course on the water, pedal-boat rentals and beach volleyball courts.
Swing Bridge over the Łuczański Canal
A historic 19th-century swing bridge, unique in Europe, still opened by hand by a single operator. A short but fascinating display of engineering as the yachts pass through.
Water Tower with a Viewing Point
The highest point in town, with a viewing terrace offering a panorama of Giżycko and the surrounding lakes. There is also a small café right at the top.
